Summary

The mysterious Mr。 Knight has opened his Midnight Mission, his people petitioning him to shelter them from the weird and horrible。 The Moon Knight stalks the rooftops and alleys marked with his crescent moon tag, bringing violence to any who would harm his flock。 Marc Spector, in whichever guise he dons, is back on the streets, a renegade priest of an unworthy god。 But while Khonshu languishes in prison, Moon Knight’s duty still must be observed: the protection of those who travel at night。 But what happens when those he would save are turned into weapons against him? When gangs of elderly residents leave a trail of bizarre violence, Moon Knight must put his body, mind and very soul on the line to end the carnage!

Meh。 Moon Knight constantly talks a big game, but all he really did was kill a few vampires。 I wasn't really impressed。 Meh。 Moon Knight constantly talks a big game, but all he really did was kill a few vampires。 I wasn't really impressed。 。。。more

I freely admit that I did not read the bizarre "Moon Knight's ancient Egypian deity vs。 the Avengers" story。 It didn't fit with Moon Knight at all well, since part of the deal with him was always the question of whether his godly connection was real or not。 If it is, with no question, it ruins a lot of good stories。 Also, it means there are fewer excuses for his weird behavior。That said, this is a very good set of stories to relaunch the title。 I picked it up because of the new Disney+ series, w I freely admit that I did not read the bizarre "Moon Knight's ancient Egypian deity vs。 the Avengers" story。 It didn't fit with Moon Knight at all well, since part of the deal with him was always the question of whether his godly connection was real or not。 If it is, with no question, it ruins a lot of good stories。 Also, it means there are fewer excuses for his weird behavior。That said, this is a very good set of stories to relaunch the title。 I picked it up because of the new Disney+ series, which I plan to watch, and even if it isn't an exact match for the story lines there, this is a good "refresher" course on the character。Here, yet another aspect of his personality is coming forth, that of "Mr。 Knight," as sort of a cross between the old Justice Inc。 pulps and Daredevil in Devil's Kitchen。 He protects the neighborhood where he has his "midnight mission" and that's about it。 The only crossover character in this book is Tigra, of all people, and she's a nice fit。For those wondering why there has only been one "Fist of Khonshu" all this time, since fists normally come in pairs, we now know a slightly more complete version of the story。 We don't know why we haven't seen any of this other stuff before, but that happens in superhero comics。。。If you have read the older Moon Knight comics and liked them, or if you watched the new show and were baffled by it, then read this and it will be good for you。 At least, the Fist of Khonshu might think kindly on you。 Or not。 Fists of deities can be so fickle at times。。。 。。。more

A really solid jumping on point for new fans of Moon Knight。 I wasn’t blown away by it like I was by Lemire’s or Ellis’ runs, but it does a great job at nailing Moon Knight’s characterization。 The art is also astonishing。 I don’t have much else to say other than you would probably like this if you are interested in the new Disney + show。

Midnight Mission is a good book and a really good introduction to the current status quo of MK, it does make reference to events in the pages of Avengers but fills the blanks enough that I never felt like I had to go suffer through the mediocre run to see what’s up。 The line and colour art are both very nice as well。MK’s supporting cast and most of the antagonists are new as well which makes this a very accessible read for the uninitiated。 I’ll be keeping up and digging into older runs as well。

Been told this was a good intro to Moon Knight and how he'll be in the show and for the most part it's pretty beginner friendly I'd say。 Been told this was a good intro to Moon Knight and how he'll be in the show and for the most part it's pretty beginner friendly I'd say。 。。。more

Moon Knight does like punching vampires。 This character is always a wild ride, and Mackay's run with the character is no exception。From swarms of stabby senior citizens, to new agents of Khonshu, to old friends returning--Mr。 Knight has a new place of business and an old mission as he tries to make peace with the darker parts of his past and continue traveling those placed under his protection。 Between the many facets of Moon Knight's personalities and his complex grief over past mistakes, he re Moon Knight does like punching vampires。 This character is always a wild ride, and Mackay's run with the character is no exception。From swarms of stabby senior citizens, to new agents of Khonshu, to old friends returning--Mr。 Knight has a new place of business and an old mission as he tries to make peace with the darker parts of his past and continue traveling those placed under his protection。 Between the many facets of Moon Knight's personalities and his complex grief over past mistakes, he remains the violent, enigmatic, and fiercely convicted antihero he has been。 With a new iteration of himself, a new vampire receptionist, and a new therapist--Marc Spector and company are in new territory that is also just what they've always done。 Vol。 1 is a sometimes rocky but always engaging opening to the newest section of Moon Knight's adventures。 。。。more

a fun little moon knight read before the show comes out! i love marc spector’s character and how torn he is with everything and everyone in his life, and how he uses that pain and disheveledness to become moon knight and mr。knight。 i love how chaotic he is, definitely gives me a bit of deadpool in the sense of his humour and violence, but also the fierce protector like daredevil is。 can’t wait to read more soon!!

A strong basis to build a new mission upon。 Jed McKay is slowly rising up my list of writers to take note of, and he's got a great start on this run of MK。 Working as both a fresh start and followup to more recent history, Mr Knight has opened his church to help those who travel in the night against beings such as monsters, vampires, and their own twisted neighbors。 I already like the new supporting cast, especially Hunter's Moon。 Will definitely be reading more A strong basis to build a new mission upon。 Jed McKay is slowly rising up my list of writers to take note of, and he's got a great start on this run of MK。 Working as both a fresh start and followup to more recent history, Mr Knight has opened his church to help those who travel in the night against beings such as monsters, vampires, and their own twisted neighbors。 I already like the new supporting cast, especially Hunter's Moon。 Will definitely be reading more 。。。more

Oh。My。God。I don't give many, if any, comics 5-stars。 This one gets it for just being a great piece。 Art and story just hit it hard。。。Moon Knight brought the Age of Khonshu。 He totally kicked the Avengers asses and helped lead his God to rule everything。 Then。。。he had a change of heart。 This new storyline by Mackay has Marc Spector running a 'mission' to help the downtrodden。 Think of him as a 'more available' Daredevil。 His domain is a safehaven for those that choose to stay there。There's just a Oh。My。God。I don't give many, if any, comics 5-stars。 This one gets it for just being a great piece。 Art and story just hit it hard。。。Moon Knight brought the Age of Khonshu。 He totally kicked the Avengers asses and helped lead his God to rule everything。 Then。。。he had a change of heart。 This new storyline by Mackay has Marc Spector running a 'mission' to help the downtrodden。 Think of him as a 'more available' Daredevil。 His domain is a safehaven for those that choose to stay there。There's just a few problems。 Court appointed therapy sessions are making it apparent that communing with a God wasn't the cause of Moon Knight's D。I。D。 The thinking now is that whatever extrahuman intelligence Khonshu is has CHANGED Moon Knight's brain。 Fundamentally changed in ways standard psychiatrists find terrifying。 Bonus: Every God has two fists。。。Bonus Bonus: Almost forgot about Moon Knight's WCA time。 。。。more

Super fun read I loved the story, my favorite scene was Marc talking to his therapist specifically about being Jewish and how is questioning faith is how Khonshu was able to persuade him to his side, and we say the same with Badr who was a cool character。

A great start to a new run and a pretty good jumping on point for the character。 I’ve read the occasional Moon Knight story and was able to follow pretty easily。 It refers to a recent big avengers story in which Moon Knight I guess tried to take over the world or something。 I haven’t read it, so I’m not sure exactly what went down, but, again, it’s not really necessary。 I think the run that started with Ellis/Shalvey may be a slightly better place to start, but many may be understandably averse A great start to a new run and a pretty good jumping on point for the character。 I’ve read the occasional Moon Knight story and was able to follow pretty easily。 It refers to a recent big avengers story in which Moon Knight I guess tried to take over the world or something。 I haven’t read it, so I’m not sure exactly what went down, but, again, it’s not really necessary。 I think the run that started with Ellis/Shalvey may be a slightly better place to start, but many may be understandably averse to reading anything by Ellis anymore, so this will do just fine。 I’ve read past this book in singles and can say the quality remains high。 。。。more

An enormously entertaining new series for the vigilante who can be considered Batman if a) he realised he was crazy and b) he wasn't shit。 It starts out from a slightly awkward position, Moon Knight having last been seen in Avengers trying to take over the world at the urging of his deity, Khonshu。 But somewhat unexpectedly, this leads to a comic which marries beating the absolute shit out of malefactors with Death of God theology。 Marc Spector's god no longer speaks to him, because the Aesir ha An enormously entertaining new series for the vigilante who can be considered Batman if a) he realised he was crazy and b) he wasn't shit。 It starts out from a slightly awkward position, Moon Knight having last been seen in Avengers trying to take over the world at the urging of his deity, Khonshu。 But somewhat unexpectedly, this leads to a comic which marries beating the absolute shit out of malefactors with Death of God theology。 Marc Spector's god no longer speaks to him, because the Aesir have him banged up in God chokey。 Worse, he has proven himself unworthy of worship。 And yet despite all that, Spector has a religious duty, to protect those who travel by night, and he's damned well going to fulfil it。 Of course, few religions get far before the doctrinal disputes creep in, and so it proves here。 Moon Knight has long been known as the Fist of Khonshu, but this run has hit on a corollary to that which seems obvious once you see it: even humans tend to have more than one fist。 Enter Hunter's Moon, another acolyte of Khonshu who thinks Marc is going about it all wrong。 A synod of punching ensues, marred only by neither of them at any point shouting "That would be an ecumenical matter!" Which wouldn't altogether have come as a surprise: Mackay has made nods to the Moon Knight shitposting group I'm in on Facebook。 Something which, perversely, makes me a little uneasy, despite the fact I am in a Moon Knight shitposting group on Facebook。 As in, even though I see a cake as primarily a delivery system for as much tasty goo as possible, you do need a bit of cake in there, or it just gets messy and unsatisfactory。 Still, for now at least there remains that crucial element of roughage in amongst the madcap brutality and badassery: "You and I, we decide what to do with what has been done to us。 We make our own decisions。 We understand the ways in which we've been changed, been broken。。。 And we use them to destroy our enemies。"A note for UK readers: while everyone is likely to be thrown by the first page's prescient reference to Omicron as a bad thing, we get an extra one, when Marc's Avengers-mandated therapist mentions Jack Monroe。 This is incredibly confusing if, like me, you find yourself picturing a queer cook。 Turns out it was also the name of the fifties Bucky, later Nomad and Scourge, which makes a lot more sense in context。 。。。more

Kind of bleak and also pretty hand-wavy when it comes to supernatural phenomena such as honest-to-God vampires running around midtown Manhattan, etc。There's some gorgeous line art along the way, though。 Kind of bleak and also pretty hand-wavy when it comes to supernatural phenomena such as honest-to-God vampires running around midtown Manhattan, etc。There's some gorgeous line art along the way, though。 。。。more

Pleasantly surprised。 Mackay's version ties all of the previous iterations of Moon Knight together and he uses the old trope of therapist sessions (which I actually like) to delve into MK's mindset。 One of my complaints about the Ellis/Lemire run was the lack of character。 You didn't get to know him so you just ended up sitting back and watching the action without any vested interest。 Mackay delves into MK's mental illness, offering an explanation for his previous behavior and what is driving hi Pleasantly surprised。 Mackay's version ties all of the previous iterations of Moon Knight together and he uses the old trope of therapist sessions (which I actually like) to delve into MK's mindset。 One of my complaints about the Ellis/Lemire run was the lack of character。 You didn't get to know him so you just ended up sitting back and watching the action without any vested interest。 Mackay delves into MK's mental illness, offering an explanation for his previous behavior and what is driving him now。 MK still maintains his brutality and borders on falling into the Punisher territory, which Marvel is shying away from, so right now he's skirting the line and it'll be interesting to see if he stays there or not。The art is different, but ended up really liking it。 Thin ink lines make for a very sharp looking panel, almost giving it an anime look。 Lines form lots of angles, creating this "edgy" and "aggressive" feel to it。 The classic Moon Knight costume is still there but drawn with lots of shadows, creating a contrasting black and white figure that pops off the page。 It's unique and don't recall seeing anything quite like it in quite awhile。 。。。more

Obviously and necessarily tonally different from Mackay's excellent Black Cat series, but every bit as good。 Moon Knight is a very complicated character, and Mackay handles the nuances of his mental illness well。 He also builds him an interesting supporting cast, complete with a new villain and a character who can best be described as a rival。 The issues are largely self-contained stories, with an underlying thread that connects everything。 It just works。 Obviously and necessarily tonally different from Mackay's excellent Black Cat series, but every bit as good。 Moon Knight is a very complicated character, and Mackay handles the nuances of his mental illness well。 He also builds him an interesting supporting cast, complete with a new villain and a character who can best be described as a rival。 The issues are largely self-contained stories, with an underlying thread that connects everything。 It just works。 。。。more

I’ve known of Moon Knight for a while, and with the Disney+ show coming out soon I thought this would be a good time to start (almost as if they planned that!)A solid introduction to the character。 It’s set in the overall Marvel Comics universe continuity, so it references events and characters outside of itself。 I’d prefer a completely standalone book, but considering that it’s not, this one does a decent job of separating itself。 Moon Knight has trauma from past events, but explains what it ne I’ve known of Moon Knight for a while, and with the Disney+ show coming out soon I thought this would be a good time to start (almost as if they planned that!)A solid introduction to the character。 It’s set in the overall Marvel Comics universe continuity, so it references events and characters outside of itself。 I’d prefer a completely standalone book, but considering that it’s not, this one does a decent job of separating itself。 Moon Knight has trauma from past events, but explains what it needs to and then deals with things internally。Moon Knight himself is a really interesting character。 Definitely seems just like “Marvel’s Batman” at first, but his story gets much more into both the mystical and mental illness, which Batman doesn’t dive into as much。Overall, I plan to keep going with this story whenever the next book comes out, and I can’t wait for the show。 。。。more

Intense read。 Dark。 Midnight Mission being the coolest term I have ever heard。 Dissociative Disorder of Moon knight persists。 Small alternate team。 Fighting an invisible villain always adds mystery。
